{"id":7578,"date":"2025-12-08T13:22:56","date_gmt":"2025-12-08T13:22:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.buildsoft.eu\/?post_type=reference-project&#038;p=7578"},"modified":"2026-02-05T08:20:14","modified_gmt":"2026-02-05T08:20:14","slug":"zuiderzicht-facade","status":"publish","type":"reference-project","link":"https:\/\/www.buildsoft.eu\/es\/reference-projects\/zuiderzicht-facade\/","title":{"rendered":"Zuiderzicht Fa\u00e7ade"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>\u00a9 Tim Fisher Photography<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00abThe Zuiderzicht concrete fa\u00e7ade analysis, commissioned by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.loveld.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Loveld<\/a>, really is a very special project within our portfolio,\u00bb Koen Van Nevel says. \u201cThis analysis relates to a skeleton of white sandblasted concrete beams and columns erected as a second fa\u00e7ade around an 80-meter-high residential tower and connected to the tower&#8217;s load-bearing structure. The residential tower is the first in a total of six towers that are being built in Antwerp as part of the Zuiderzicht residential building project.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The analysis of this fa\u00e7ade skeleton is not so much about the sizing of the columns (after all, this had been defined by the architect), but rather about the calculation of concrete reinforcement. To maintain a good overall view on the project, we used Diamonds to build a 2D analysis model for each fa\u00e7ade and complete these models with the wind loads and the appropriate boundary conditions. The skeleton was defined to have rigid supports perpendicular to the fa\u00e7ade surface, while the concrete columns were set to be clamped at ground level.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fa\u00e7ade analysis may not be the most typical example that people expect to find in the project portfolio of an engineering office specialized in structural design. But then, Cobe\u2019s project portfolio is quite a comprehensive one. And thanks to BuildSoft\u2019s Diamonds software, our project engineers can deal efficiently with the many different challenges they encounter in various projects.
