Why base a spiral staircase’s floor plan on the golden ratio or a Fibonacci spiral?

Fibonacci spiral is built from quarter-circle arcs whose radii grow according to the golden ratio, which produces a curve that widens smoothly and consistently at every point rather than at an arbitrary or uneven rate. Using that same proportioning for a spiral staircase’s floor plan gives each step a visually balanced, gradually widening tread from the centre outward, which is why the golden ratio shows up so often in spiral stair designs where both structural geometry and visual proportion matter.
